Chris Paul imagines owning an NBA team after his career

At 37, Chris Paul can calmly begin to consider his post-career. The point guard, under contract until 2025 with the Phoenix Suns, is probably not very far from retirement. During a conferencehe thus admitted that he has the ambition to become an owner of an NBA team.

“I would like to be part of an ownership group (of a franchise) when I am done playing”said Paul.

After 17 years in the league, the “point god” knows the NBA like the back of his hand. He has already taken a step towards his goal, becoming the president of the players’ union (NBPA) in 2013. A position he held for four years, before giving way to CJ McCollum. A first important experience in the governing bodies.

Recognized as one of the greatest minds on the pitch, Chris Paul would undoubtedly be qualified to lead a team. He’s not the only player to have expressed interest in acquiring a franchise. LeBron James does not hide its intention to afford a team in Las Vegas.

“I want to buy a team, that’s for sure. […] I want a team in Las Vegas”, the Lakers star made it clear in June.

Maybe the two banana boat friends could finally end up in the same franchise. Only, as owners and after their 40s. A group of investors who would surely sell dreams to sponsors and who could have some success on the business plan.
