▶ 30. Minute: Heavy crash! After the Gladbach corner, Gladbach’s national player Florian Neuhaus and Freiburg Bundesliga debutant Daniel-Kofi Kyereh only look at the ball and rattle violently just before the sixteen. Midfielder Neuhaus jumps into the Freiburg striker with his right knee first. Both lie down first, then get up again. But Neuhaus has to get out four minutes later, limping and supported by supervisors. Kyereh can continue.

Fair: Neuhaus left the field to great applause from the Freiburg fans and returned to the Gladbach bench on crutches in the 63rd minute.

It is uncertain whether Neuhaus will be out of action for the national team’s upcoming Nations League games next week against Hungary in Leipzig (September 23) and for a cracker in England (September 26). An MRI should bring clarity on Monday.

Gladbach coach Daniel Farke at DAZN on the injury: “It looks like a cruciate ligament injury. But you have to wait. Let’s hope it’s luck in disguise and that the fears are not confirmed.”

Freiburg kept pushing towards the Gladbach goal in the second half, but a winning goal didn’t want to succeed. After three wins in a row in the Bundesliga and the 2-1 win against Qarabag Agdam in the Europa League on Thursday, no win this time.

But Gladbach remains Freiburg’s favorite opponent: Baden have been unbeaten against the “foals” in the Bundesliga for 15 home games. Gladbach’s last victory in Baden was on March 23, 2002 – 3481 days ago!

Things get emotional in the 82nd minute: Freiburg’s U21 national player Kevin Schade returns to the pitch after more than six months due to a persistent abdominal muscle strain and surgery.

At Gladbach, however, Bundesliga returnee Julian Weigl celebrated his starting eleven debut. Most recently, the six was in the starting lineup for Borussia Dortmund in December 2019.
