Jhon Lucumí already knows who his new coach will be at Bologna. The Colombian defender, like the rest of the squad, was surprised by the departure of Serbian Sinisa Mihajlovic; but he already knows that it will be directed by a former Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain.
This is the Italian-Brazilian Thiago Motta. This was confirmed this Saturday by Claudio Fenucci, executive director of Bologna, at the press conference prior to the match against Fiorentina next Sunday.
“The coach of the first team will be Thiago Motta from Monday. We are defining the last details, but it can be considered official. Now it’s important to think about tomorrow’s match”, declared Fenucci.
In the absence of closing the agreement and an official statement from the club, the local media point to a two-year contract. Against Fior’, the former Barcelona or PSG player, among others, will watch the game from the stands, while the Italian Luca Viniagi, the coach of the youth team, will lead from the bench.
The one who was international with the ‘azzurra’ landed this Saturday in the city of Bologna to close the agreement to replace Mihajlovic, whose dismissal has raised controversy in Italy.
“I think that Bologna does not deserve moral lessons for everything that has happened with Sinisa”, settled Fenucci himself. “It was a very painful decision because Sinisa is a friend. From the point of view of results, we have only seen the team win four times in the calendar year and in a league like Serie A, if things are not going well, we have to intervene. We had decided to start the season following the model of the first year but, this time, despite his return, the results were not coming and we believe that the squad has important figures”, he sentenced.
