Bagnaia remains intractable and adds a new “pole” to the Alcanyís circuit

The Italian Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia (Ducati Desmosedici GP22) warned of his intentions by being the fastest in qualifying for the Motorland Aragon Grand Prix yesterday, as did the leaders of the other categories, the Spaniards Augusto Fernández (Kalex), in Moto2, and Izan Guevara (GasGas), in Moto3. Maverick Viñales from Rosin will start sixteenth in Moto GP, while Albert Arenas from Girona took pole in Moto2 (+0.124s) and will start second.

Bagnaia added his fifth “pole position” of the season for a race that will not be contested by the Spanish Joan Mir (Suzuki GSX RR), who will not travel to Japan either. The Ducati rider is the circuit’s new absolute top scorer, lowering his 2021 record (1,46,322) to 1,46,069.

The first classification was one of the most interesting of the season, with protagonists such as Marc Márquez (Repsol Profunda RC 213 V) or Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia RS-GP), third in the provisional classification of the world championship, and while the first did not to be able to pass to the second classification the second did achieve his goal.

Aleix Espargaró’s team-mate, Rosinc Maverick Viñales, was not too lucky in this first classification, in which he was in sixth position when he suffered a fall that prevented him from improving his personal best time and will force it to exit from the sixth line of the exit formation.

Márquez, who reappeared in an official classification, could not attempt another fast lap as there was a yellow flag due to the fall of Pol Esparagaró.

The second and last outing on the track for all the drivers in search of the best fast lap, put all the teams on alert, with numerous drivers in provisional “pole” partials, although in the end first Aleix Espargaró, who rise from eleventh position to second, with ten thousandths lost compared to Bastianini’s record, and then the Ducati riders began their particular display, with Bagnaia first, which was done with his fifth ” pole position’ of the season, which he had not achieved since the TT Assen race, ahead of his teammate Jack Miller and Enea Bastianini.

In the intermediate category, Albert Arenas from Girona will start from the front line of the grid. The GasGas pilot was only beaten by the world leader, Augusto Fernández, in the classification. Arenas has options to get on the podium today. In Moto3, the fastest rider was Izan Guevara, followed by Japan’s Ayumu Sasaki and Daniel Holgado.
