Report of Lorient-Lyon: Lorient president Loïc Féry denounces “pressure from OL”, Jean-Michel Aulas disputes

Lorient – Lyon should have opened at 1 p.m. on Sunday in Ligue 1. But it was postponed by the LFP on Friday due to the state of the Moustoir lawn, which was badly deteriorated due to the drought and the Festival shows Interceltique which was held in the enclosure all week. According to the League, “the safety of the actors of the game” cannot be ensured in the current state of the lawn.

An opinion which is not necessarily shared on the side of Lorient. This Sunday noon, President Loïc Féry posted a long message on twitter for the attention of Merlus supporters. “The club teams remained convinced that the pitch would have been up to LFP standards this Sunday: indeed the pitch was already within the standards required in terms of hardness and rotation by the FFF on Friday,” he wrote.

The Lorient president then points to the role played by Lyon behind the scenes. He thus denounces “pressure” from OL, which would have led to the postponement when the match could have been played according to him.

“Under pressure from Olympique Lyonnais, who threatened the LFP with claims for damages in the event of injury, the Competitions Commission unfortunately preferred to postpone this match, depriving our spectators of a great party at Moustoir on August 14. We are sorry and disappointed because we thought it was possible to play in Lorient this Sunday, without endangering the physical integrity of the players”.

“No pressure, just common sense and logic”, replies Aulas

The response from Jean-Michel Aulas, always quick to react on twitter, was quickly expected… And it didn’t take long. Aulas replied directly under Loic Fery’s tweet: “@ol@lfp no pressure just common sense and logic that would have avoided this situation for our 500 supporters and our teams. Even the most optimistic of gardeners knew from the beginning of the heat wave that this ground could never have endured for six days of festivities: very serious! »
