QMJHL camp: First experience for Jacob Beaulieu and Mathys Dubé

Jacob Beaulieu is ready for his first camp in the QMJHL. The Riverains Midget AAA baseball player has also prioritized his summer training.

“Of course the gym was more important this summer because we know it’s a big year, baseball was a little more sidelined but I still played a few games to keep baseball going. me, but I really had a good summer of training.”

The athlete from La Pocatière wants to make a name for himself with the Saint-John Sea Dogs, the Memorial Cup champions.

“I want to show who Jacob Beaulieu is, his style of play, I worked a lot on my attacking game and I can say mission accomplished, so I have to arrive focused and confident in my abilities and use my shoulders, because it’s the basis of my game.”

He is not closing the door on a return to the Albatross, but his goal is to learn at the next level.

“The best choice is to stay Junior, the guys are training like pros and seeing them do it every day, I’m going to take a notch too, I think it’s the best decision and it’s playing with the best that we become the best.”

It’s quite the opposite for Mathys Dubé, who prefers to have a big role in the M18AAA rather than being a less important player with the Rimouski Oceanic.

“For my development, I think it would be better to come back here at 16 and play on a first line and dominate more than to play in Rimouski 3rd or 4th line with less ice time, so I think it would be better for me. to come back Midget AAA.”

The one who won a golf medal at the Quebec Games this summer is also expected to become the next captain of the Albatross in 2022-2023.

“I have no words, when I think about it…it would be a golden opportunity, not everyone gets the chance to captain the Albatross, I’m going to take advantage of it for sure if that.” arrives and I will do my role as a leader.”
