This year, in fact, the participating fractions will be asked to choose the couple who represent them during the event, as well as the person who will carry the banner, the podestà and the consuls, while as regards the two challenges valid for the assignment of the Palio , the ‘Challenge with the historical arch’ (archery challenge on August 19th in Piazza Aldo Moro at 5.30 pm) and the numbers performed during the ‘Gran galà equestre’ (on August 20 at 9 pm at the Porta Orientale parking lot) , the hamlets will be represented respectively by the archers of the Sacred Wood of Spoleto and by equestrian professionals. In the Palio di Santo Spirito there will be space, then, the parade in historical costume accompanied by sounds and themed performances by the flag-wavers and musicians of the City of Amelia, on 19 August at 19.30 between piazza Aldo Moro and piazzale San Francesco where the open medieval dinner will follow to everyone (fixed menu, for info and reservations: 074371401). Furthermore, at 9.30 pm, again in piazzale San Francesco, ‘The villages tell each other’; it will be the occasion in which the peculiarities and riches of the Casciano territory will be presented, enlivened by the exhibition of the flag-wavers and musicians of the City of Amelia.
Spectacular final on Saturday 20 August with the Grand equestrian gala, in which skilled professionals will perform exciting numbers on horseback. A jury of experts will evaluate the performances and assign the scores that, added to those of the Challenge with the arch, will sanction the winning fraction of the Palio di Santo Spirito 2022. The winner will be crowned during the award ceremony at 11.30 pm at the Porta Orientale parking lot.
The emotions in Cascia will continue with classical music performed by the Fidelio Ensemble, composed by Alessandro Golini (gypsy violin), Sandro Paradisi (accordion), Paolo Batistini (guitar), Jury Pecci (percussion) and the jazz singer Maria Silvestri.
Scheduled for Monday 22 August in Viale del Santuario, a concert with music by Trevor Jones, Nicola Piovani, Luis Bacalov and Ennio Morricone. The concert, supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Umbria Region, is part of the calendar of the Omaggio all’Umbria project.
