The release of NBA 2K23 is just around the corner and every week Visual Concepts and 2K reveal new information about the next installment of the basketball simulation. While we discovered the new MyNBA Eras mode last Friday, today it is the MyTeam mode which presents some changes.
2K is applying community-requested changes to MyTeam
NBA 2K’s flagship mode for several years, MyTeam is NBA 2K’s FUT mode, based on card collection and the creation of fictional teams mixing franchises and eras. MyTeam is arguably the game’s most controversial mode largely due to its insidious business model centered around buying VC, virtual currency, to spend in loot boxes.
For 2 years, the game has adopted a seasonal formula identical to what we observe through the battle passes of other known games and long-time fans are increasingly turning away from MyTeam.
Nevertheless, Visual Concepts returns this year with some significant changes to MyTeam. We find in particular the abolition of contracts to be applied to players so that they can play matches. Erick Boenisch, Vice President of NBA Development at 2K and Visual Concepts states in particular:
“We’ve made a number of changes to MyTeam this year that our community has requested, including the removal of Contracts and the addition of Triple Threat Online: Co-Op which allows players to team up with friends for the first time ever. times in order to test their skills in the Co-Op 3v3 online game. »
The addition of Triple Threat online in co-op is notable and should attract a new audience wishing to play this popular MyTeam mode in co-op. Add to that Party, Co-Op and Competitive online modes which will all be integrated into Triple Threat, which until now allowed players to win matches in order to progress through a ladder of rewards.
Other information concerning MyTeam is the return of the MyTeam Unlimited tournament with $250,000 at stake distributed among the various winners. To participate, you will have to reach the Emerald level of Unlimited mode before the first GameDay on October 15.
