Narbonne maintained in League A

The Narbonne club is authorized to stay next season in the French first division, Ligue A which begins in October, the French volleyball federation announced to AFP on Monday. “We accept the CNOSF’s conciliation proposal to allow Narbonne, after examination of the file, to remain in Ligue A. The club has brought new elements: money and financial guarantees“, indicated the president of the federation, Eric Tanguy.

The French National Olympic Sports Committee (CNOSF) had proposed Friday to maintain Narbonne, semi-finalist of the French championship in 2022, in League A, after hearing the Occitan leaders on Wednesday.

Relief

For the victorious club of the Challenge Cup (C3) in 2022, this decision is a relief, two months after the Commission for Aid and Control of Professional Clubs (CACCP) of the National League had decided to relegate it administratively to 3rd. division, due to an excessive financial deficit.

On July 19, the National Directorate for Aid and Management Control (DNACG) confirmed the CACCP’s decision on appeal, prompting Narbonne to contact the CNOSF for a “possible appeal before the administrative judge“. In addition, there is still talk of the French championship integrating the Chinese national team, from next season, to enable it to prepare for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
