Moroccan judo boycotts Arab Championships in Tunisia

The Royal Moroccan Judo and Assimilated Martial Federation (FRMJAMA) has decided to withdraw from the next competitions organized in Tunisia next September.

In a press release, the Royal Moroccan Federation of Judo and Assimilated Martials announced that it has decided to give up the Arab Championship of Champion Clubs and the Arab Junior Championship. These two competitions are scheduled in Tunisia, respectively from September 6 to 12, 2022.

Several national federations and clubs have confirmed their non-participation in sporting events organized in Tunisia following the reception given by the President of the Republic of Tunisia Kaïs Saïed, to the leader of the “polisario” separatists within the framework of the 8th summit of the Japan-Africa Cooperation Forum (TICAD), an invitation that has been denounced by several African countries and even by Japan.

This act, which targeted Morocco, constitutes a frank declaration of a position hostile to its territorial integrity, “which deeply offends the feelings of the Moroccan people and its living forces”, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a communiqué.

Faced with this hostile and detrimental attitude to the fraternal relations that the two countries have always maintained, the Kingdom of Morocco decided not to participate in the summit and to immediately recall the Ambassador of the Kingdom to Tunis for consultation.
