Leon Goretzka’s chances of taking part in the European Championships in the summer are considered rather slim. Most recently, the national coach did without him and a few other established players. The FC Bayern professional is now promoting himself again.
Julian Nagelsmann will soon announce the squad for the European Championships. It’s not official yet, but in all likelihood the national coach will be allowed to nominate 26 players. Nagelsmann emphasized that as a coach it was his job to find the right players for the role he intended: “I have to make this decision.” After the botched international matches in November against Turkey (2:3) and in Austria ( 0:2), the coach had taken drastic personnel measures. His EM idea envisages a clear distribution of roles with regular staff and highly motivated challengers for each position.
