Without this last attempt, by his own admission, he would have lasted three or four seasons at most, perhaps one of his dreams was to equal Valentino Rossi’s 9th title. But will it be achievable in the near future?
Marc’s problem isn’t just his arm and it’s diplopia. Injuries that can suddenly recur with an impact on the head, because we know the speed of MotoGP bikes is extraordinary.. Then who says that Marc Marquez can race but not like before?
Italian journalist at Mowmag, Cosimo Curatola wrote, “Diplopia is incurable, because we can’t do much about nerve injuries: surgery is not all that helps (only half of it), while for rehabilitation will consist of waiting for a natural cure and everything else is prevention (of collisions).. if a racer (who suffers from diplopia) rides a motorcycle at a speed of 360 km/h, it is a risk,” he wrote.
The writer then concluded, “Marc Marquez will be able to race again, but he must not be injured. He will be able to train again, but can’t get close to his limit (not pushing himself like he used to). He was a man too fragile to take risks if he was to remain as domineering as he used to be. Maybe he will get lucky and continue to race without ending up with diplopia, but he has to think about it (possibility of diplopia relapse due to falls).”
Marc Marquez’s ‘comeback’ journey will begin with his presence at the Austrian GP as a consultant in the Honda garage where there will be many discussions with the team. Then a health check at the end of August provided an overview of the state of his right humerus that will determine when he starts to be on track though not in pursuit of victory: involvement in the Misano test on September 5 the day after the San Marino GP and doing a race or two before the end of the season. in Valencia, which will give you an idea of what the 2023 version of the Honda will look like.
But all of the above is media opinion, while we will never know a miracle will come.. Marc is a Marc who always takes risks.. What if he chooses injury over not winning (world champion)?.. Only asphalt and round rubber knows. .
