According to several Spanish media, initial discussions have been initiated between the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, and the entourage of Lionel Messi. The idea would be to complete the return of the Argentinian international to Catalonia for June 2023, the date of the end of the La Pulga contract in Paris Saint Germain. But according to a member of Lionel Messi’s entourage interviewed by Mundo Deportivo, there is absolutely no contact between the reigning vice-champion of Spain and the number 30 of PSG, author of a double during the first day of Ligue 1 on the lawn of Clermont on Saturday evening (0-5).
No contact between Messi and Barcelona
‘There has been no approach by Laporta with anyone in Leo Messi’s entourage or vice versa, and anyone claiming that is lying’ launched a close friend of Lionel Messi in the columns of Mundo Deportivo. A version confirmed by Loic Tanzi, PSG specialist for the newspaper L’Equipe, who explains via his Twitter account that since the departure of Lionel Messi a year ago, there has not been the slightest contact between the international Argentinian and Joan Laporta. That doesn’t mean the Barcelona president doesn’t have a goal of bringing Lionel Messi back to Catalonia at the end of the season, though. A few days ago, Joan Laporta still confided his interest in the Parisian, without putting himself at fault vis-à-vis Paris. “I’m not going to talk more about Messi because he’s a PSG player, I’ll just say we have a moral debt with him. The relationship with his family is good” explained the boss of Barça. The Messi soap opera is therefore just beginning.
