FC Bayern Munich – Kingsley Coman: “I want to win the Ballon d’Or” – BUNDESLIGA

“I think I’ve achieved my dream, but now I have goals.”

Bavaria’s winger Kingsley Coman (26) has already achieved a lot in his career. Champions League winner, seven times Bundesliga champion, he was French and Italian champion. In an interview with the “Daily Mail”, the Frenchman talks about his plans for the future.

“The goals I have are goals I can achieve if I work hard and of course with some faith and luck. I still have a lot [zu erreichen]. I want to win the World Cup because I missed it,” says Coman. A syndesmosis ligament rupture in the 2017/18 season meant that the Frenchman missed the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The Bayern professional also says: “I would like to win the Champions League with Bayern more often. There aren’t many people who have won this that many times, so I want to win more. I just want to win more trophies as a team and maybe as an individual player too.”

Does he mean the Ballon d’Or? “Exactly, the Ballon d’Or. Because there (win) the best of the best.”

Since starting his professional career with Paris Saint-Germain in 2013, Coman has already racked up 27 titles to become a serial winner.

In comparison: Teammate Thomas Muller has 31 trophies, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have won 38 and 33 respectively in their careers.

Coman had offers from abroad

The Frenchman signed a new contract with FC Bayern in January and extended it until 2027. If he fulfills this contract, Coman will spend a decade with the record champions. There were considerations of leaving Germany for England or Spain.

Coman: “Those are definitely two leagues I would like to play in one day. Before we agreed, I really thought about it. I wanted to try something new, but in the end I spoke to the club and we came to an agreement. I haven’t talked about anything other than football and where we want to go together. For me that was the best [Option]. I had the choice between England and Spain because I wanted to try something I haven’t done before. So France and Italy weren’t really an option.”

He does not reveal which clubs knocked on the winger’s door. But for which clubs he admires.

“I would say in general the best teams. I am someone who strives for the best. I like the way City play, obviously with Guardiola. I like the way Liverpool play. I like Chelsea as a team, so I’d say the big three teams.”

But the future belongs to FC Bayern: “I had the feeling that I had more to do here, and that’s why I decided to stay. My contract has just started. I want to show the club that it was right to believe in me and give me this chance.”
