Duplantis European pole vault champion with a jump of 6.06m

Armand Duplantis unsurprisingly won a second European pole vault victory by jumping a bar set at 6m06

A month after the world gold came to complete his prize list, the Swedish Armand Duplantis, Olympic champion in title, was crowned European champion in the pole vault for the second consecutive time, Saturday in Munich (Germany).

In cool and wet conditions, Duplantis (22) won by crossing a bar at 5.95m ahead of the German Bo Kanda Lita Baehre, who peaked at 5.85m, and the Norwegian Pal Haugen Lillefosse ( 5.75m). The Swede then broke his own European Championship record by clearing a bar at 6.06m, before stopping there.

No medal, therefore, for Renaud Lavillenie, eliminated after three missed attempts at 5.85 meters after successfully jumping a bar at 5.65 m. Thibaut Collet also missed his last jump at 5.85 meters and finished 5th.
