“I’m not afraid of Bayern”
Millions of football fans watch his hands on TV!
Viktoria Cologne goalkeeper Ben Voll (21) is facing the biggest test of his young career: Mega Bayern come to Müngersdorf for the first round duel in the DFB Cup against the third division team on Wednesday (8:46 p.m.).
BILD asked Voll: To be honest, are you really nervous playing against FC Bayern in front of 50,000 spectators?
Full: “I’m not afraid, I just feel great anticipation, like everyone else in our club. I’ll try to enjoy every minute of this evening. When do you get the chance to play against one of the best teams in the world?”
BILD: Are you particularly preparing for Bayern?
Full: “Of course we know what kind of offensive power they have. You are currently taking a closer look at their games. But we prepare like we do for any other game.”
BILD: You meet Manuel Neuer. Is he your role model?
Full: “My idol was René Adler. There was no particular reason for that. As a child, I watched Adler and Neuer fight for a place in the national team. Of course I have the greatest respect for Manuel Neuer, who has shaped the goalkeeping game for so many years as probably the best keeper in the world. I’ve always tried to learn something from him.”
BILD: Do you want to swap jerseys with Neuer?
Full: “I’m just thinking about the game now.”
BILD: How did you follow the draw at the end of May?
Full: “I was at my parents. At the end of the draw, there weren’t many teams left in the pot, so that went our way. When it actually became Bayern, of course we cheered.”
BILD: Did you have to organize a lot of tickets?
Full: “The wishes were already in the low double-digit range.”
BILD: What would be a result that Viktoria could live with?
Full: “We want to show our best possible performance, that’s the top priority. We got off to a decent start in the 3rd division with ten points and that gives us confidence.”
