Athletissima: Armand Duplantis sovereign in Lausanne – rts.ch

As a prelude to the 47th edition of Athletissima, the pole vaulters took over Ouchy for an offbeat competition. Armand Duplantis did not have to force to win with a jump of 6m10.

Under the eyes of Sergey Bubka, Duplantis did what was expected of him and what he has been able to do best for 4 years: win. The world record holder was the only one to cross 5m90. He then tackled this once mythical 6m bar which he managed to pass on his 3rd attempt. It is also the 52nd time that the Swede has cleared this height in his career!

Then rather than asking for a bar at 6m22 to try to improve his world record, “Mondo” tried a bar at 6m10. With the help of his father Greg Duplantis and his girlfriend Desiré Inglander, the best pole vaulter in history found the resources to pass these 6m10 and improve the meeting record by 3 centimeters.

The podium is completed by the American Chris Nielsen and the Filipino Ernest Obiena, both blocked at 5m80. Aligned with the cream of the discipline, Dominik Alberto passed the bar at 5m40 on his 3rd try. The multiple Swiss champion then logically failed at 5m60.
