Although she quietly disappeared from the courts about four years ago, Andrea Sestini Hlaváčková kept a proper farewell to her career until this year in Prague. At the tournament in Stromovka, alongside her long-time partner Lucie Hradecka, she reached the quarterfinals, and after the tournament she was moved to tears.
“I was mainly afraid of embarrassing myself in front of the audience. I haven’t played in a while and there wasn’t much space for training before the tournament. I didn’t want to end up like some kind of fool. But after the first match, it fell out of me,” the Olympic medalist from London admits in the podcast.

| Podcasts are recordings of the spoken word placed on the Internet where anyone can play them. The advantage of podcasts compared to radio broadcasts is the possibility to listen to your favorite program anytime and anywhere. If you’re on your way to work, on vacation or don’t want to spend the evening staring at the TV, you only need to have your mobile phone with you, ideally headphones. Sestini Hlaváčková was not far from her second Olympic medal four years later. In Rio, she and Hradecká were separated from the final by only one winning ball, after a blow to the eye and an unpleasant injury, the popular couple ended up unluckily fourth.
“When someone asks me what was the bottom of my career, it was here,” admits the former tennis player in retrospect. You can watch the whole interview play on video or as a podcast in the audio player at the beginning of the article.
Today, Dobojován is also about beer, because the name Hlaváček is closely associated with golden mok in Pilsen. There was also talk of participating in the popular dance competition StarDance or tennis fever in 2014.
