After her success over Serena Williams, then world number 1, in 2014, the French did it again this Saturday by dismissing the new queen of women’s tennis, the Polish Iga Swiatek, who remained on 37 consecutive victories. Between these two victories, no Frenchwoman had achieved such a tour de force in Grand Slam. She therefore joins Harmony Tan and Caroline Garcia in the round of 16. For the first time since 2005, three French women have reached this stage of the competition on the London lawn.
