Third RFEF

The sports management commanded by Fernando Amorebieta has made three renewals and five signings so far

The Portugalete has been until June 30 announcing principles of agreement both with Patxi Salinas at the reins of the bench, and with the new additions that have been added to the ranks jarrilleras. As of that date, all this has become definitively effective upon the conclusion of the contracts that linked them to their previous clubs. In this way, the Portuguese squad already has eight confirmed troops for next year. Mikel Cubería will assume the captaincy after the departure of Mediavilla and Santamaría, since like Julen Etxaniz and Aitor Morcillo, he has renewed his commitment for one more year. In addition, the gualnegros have been reinforced with the signings of Aritz de Miguel, Ander Peciña, Mikel Álvaro, Iñigo Ibargoien and Quicala Bari.

The jarrillero team is immersed in a new project after having been at the gates of its objective last year, which was none other than promoting to the Second RFEF. The club has opted for a revolution in the sports area, with Fernando Amorebieta as the new technical secretary and Patxi Salinas as the new coach. It remains to be seen if there will also be a great renewal in terms of the squad. For the moment, the departures of Jorge Mediavilla -Gimnástica de Torrelavega-, Ander Santamaría -Laredo-, Miguel Gándara -Gimnástica de Torrelavega-, Xabi Naveira -Laredo- and Sergio García have been announced. The future of the rest is up in the air.

Only the continuity of three players has been made official. Mikel Cubería will be the captain of the Portuguese. The central defender, who can also act as a pivot, arrived at Portugalete last winter market after a period of a year and a half at Recambios Colón. The previous three campaigns, he had already played in Florida captaining the team. However, this last year he was barely able to play due to an injury that separated him from the pitch since February. In addition, Julen Etxaniz and Aitor Morcillo have renewed. The center-back played 27 games last season, where a fractured cheekbone kept him out for two months. As for the left back, he participated in 34 matches, being the sixth player with the most minutes on the squad.

five new faces

EL CORREO already counted the signing of a veteran like Mikel Álvaro from Amorebieta after the jarrilleros two weeks ago. In recent days, they have launched with four more. The first was Ander Peciña. He is a 22-year-old right-back who trained in the lower categories of Alavés, later passing through San Ignacio in the Third Division and Haro Deportivo in Second B. This last season, he has been one of the players with the most minutes for Amurrio, having played 33 games, all of them as a starter, scoring two goals. The next was Quicala Bari, a 20-year-old left winger who was in the Alavés youth academy until last March, when he decided to sign for Derio. In a short time in that Division of Honor, he has shone with his own light by scoring six goals and giving five assists in eleven games.

He has also covered the first of the gaps in goal. Aritz de Miguel is a 23-year-old goalkeeper who has experience in both the Third Division and the extinct Second Division B. Trained in Lezama, he came to Basconia where he enjoyed two loan spells to Arenas and Leioa, both in the bronze category. This season he has been the starting goalkeeper for Mirandés B, qualifying for the RFEF Third Division promotion play-off. The last to be announced was that of Iñigo Ibargoien. A 26-year-old footballer who plays on the right wing, although this season he has also interspersed his natural position with that of lane, when they played with a defense of three central defenders. He has been a fixture at Arenas de Segunda RFEF, playing 31 games, 22 of them starting. Trained in the lower categories of Antiguoko, he previously went through Lagun Onak, Vitoria, the French Genets Anglet and Leioa, until arriving two seasons ago in the Getxo team.
