Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios’ court date in Australia has been postponed by three weeks.

The hearing with the 27-year-old tennis professional will now take place on August 23 and no longer on August 2, according to the appointment list of the district court in Canberra on Friday. It is not officially known what the trial is about. The Australian news agency AAP wrote that Kyrgios did not have to appear in person at the court date. He is registered for the Masters tournament in Cincinnati from August 14th to 21st, the US Open starts on August 29th in New York.

According to the AAP report, Kyrgios is now represented by attorney Michael Kukulies-Smith. He did not comment on the details of the negotiation. Lawyer Jason Moffett, who represented Australian Kyrgios as legal counsel according to the Canberra Times in early July, told the newspaper at the time: “The nature of the allegations is serious and Mr. Kyrgios takes the allegation very seriously.” Accordingly, it was an incident “related to a domestic relationship,” as Moffett said.

Kyrgios had recently not wanted to comment on the content of the court date at the lawn classic in London. “Of course I have a lot of thoughts, a lot of things I want to say, my point of view, so to speak,” he said a good three weeks ago. “I understand that everyone wants to ask questions about this and all that, but I can’t say too much about it right now.”

A message from the law firm Johannessen, which works for Kyrgios, said a good three weeks ago that the allegations were neither secured nor confirmed by the prosecutors or the tennis player himself. The court also does not see the allegations as facts, so Kyrgios is not to be seen as the accused. The tennis professional will comment on all allegations.
