In the qualification, which was held on the first day of the competition, the fastest Latvian was Reinis Bicāns (JTSC “Eriņi”), showing the sixth fastest lap time. For Kārlis Lysanders (Saldus motoklubs) – the twelfth lap time, meanwhile for Matīs Palēvics (Rodeo MX), who completed only one lap due to motorcycle problems, showed the eighteenth result.
Matīss Palēvics was the only one of our athletes to finish in the first race, taking 7th place. Technical problems started to hit Karli Lysanders already in the qualification and they continued to haunt the athlete in the first race as well. Unfortunately, it was not possible to fix the problem and this competition for Karl ended before it really started. “The needle bearing of the balancer shaft in the motor is over! The motor is full of metal shavings. The bearing has lasted about 36 hours, which is quite a bit. Unfortunately, no one can predict that the bearing will tire so quickly. This is a technical sport,” commented Linard Lysander.
The first race for Reinis Bicāns also ended without a result – after the first lap, the engine gasket came out and the oil leaked out.
In the second race, which took place on the second day of the competition, only M. Palēvics from the Latvians started and won 7th place. The third race was also quite stable for Matīs, reaching the finish in the sixth place, which secured the 6th place for the Latvian athlete in the sum of three races at this stage of the European Championship.
The winner of the stage was the four-time European champion Kevin Saar, the second place went to Kristofer Tveräen, while Joakim Granli climbed to the third step of the podium in Estonia.
