Axel Witsel, who will wear jersey number 20, looked back on his first days in Madrid after the traditional photo shoot.

“I was free and chose Atlético because I want to continue at the highest level as long as possible,” said Witsel. “I know I don’t have ten years left, but I want to take advantage of my last years.”

Furthermore, Witsel announced that he is looking forward to working with Diego Simeone. “Obviously he is one of the best trainers in the world – that’s why I signed here. We spoke before my arrival and I’m very proud to work with him.”
