The Charité basket is about to finalize its recruitment for next season

At a time when nothing is still being played out on the courts, La Charité is working behind the scenes to offer its public a team worthy of the Men’s National 2. Relegated to NM3, but finally drafted to the next level, the club charitois is building a group ready, no longer to play for the top of the table in the fifth division, but to stay in the fourth. “Compared to the players already in place, those who are arriving and those who will arrive, this maintenance gives a surplus of motivation”, appreciates Guy Arnaud, the new coach.

Because this maintenance in NM2 places La Charité in a division more in line with the status of the club. “NM3 is improved Prenational. The NM2 is a semi-professional level, which opens up prospects for the players for the NM1”, underlines Guy Arnaud, who coached the U15s of the JDA DIjon last season. “In NM3, bringing in players from training centers, from the Espoirs championship, is a hassle. We have experienced it. The NM2 has a completely different resonance. »

Already four recruits, two pending

It was not until Wednesday July 6, almost two months after the last day of the 2012-2022 season, that La Charité was fixed on its fate. “A lot of players have already signed. It’s a shame we weren’t informed earlier, ”regrets Guy Arnaud. “But I have no fear: the team we are building will do well in NM2”, announces the coach.

Already four rookies, including a versatile American back from NCAA La Charité, as usual, have suffered a wave of major player departures. Loïc Salaneuve (leader), Dylan Palcy (back) and Kévin Hangoué (inside), they will still be there this season, and are now waiting to get to know their future teammates. “Four players have already signed”, announces Guy Arnaud.

“The players will come from different backgrounds. The chemistry will take as you go. It’s like good food, it takes time.”

The first, Andre Jackson (1.93 m), 25, arrives from the NCAA and North Carolina. “He’s a versatile player, trained as a leader, but back is his natural position. He is even able to switch winger, ”explains the Charitois coach. Three other players, in addition to Jackson, have already signed. “A French leader, who was a substitute in NM1, a French winger, referenced in NM2, as well as a foreign position 5 (but with Cotonou status), with a rebounder-blocker profile. »

To complete the workforce, La Charité, which has the right to four transfers and two foreigners, two new players are expected. “A position 4, with an offensive profile. We had found him, but waiting to find out if we would be in NM3 or NM2 got the better of him. Depending on the profile that we find, we will then recruit an interior or a back, “says Guy Arnaud.

The Charitois coach, signing after signing, draws a team that looks like him. “It’s a team that will shoot at 3 points and which will not be restrained by the systems, I will favor individual initiatives”, without this being done to the detriment of the collective. “Players will come from different backgrounds. The alchemy will take as it goes. It’s like good cooking, it takes time. »
