The Badminton Club celebrates several successes in Alfajarín in its last test

The Club Badminton Soria-CS24 and the AD89 from El Burgo de Osma ended this first part of the season by traveling to Alfajarín, where a territorial tournament valid for the national ranking was played.

The Aragonese test was attended by nine players from Soria, four of whom were seniors, who will not rest until the next European Championship to be held in August in Slovenia and who took advantage of this event as another phase of their preparation.

The competition provided a good balance of results with two wins and five runners-up, which leaves a good taste in the mouth before the summer break.

In the absolute category, Beatriz Hernández from Soriana stood out, who would climb the podium twice to collect the silver medal. Framed in group A, they would win the three matches of the previous phase to reach the final, where after losing the first set 21-17, the fatigue of the competition made them also give up the second and therefore the match against Toledo’s Inés Piñas.

Beatriz had a similar route in the mixed doubles modality together with her club mate Marcos Fernández. Overcoming the group stage with authority, in the final the sixth couple in the national ranking awaited them, who beat them by a disputed 21-18 and 21-15.

On the part of the youngest, the young sub13s of the Soria Badminton Club continue to adapt to the new category, adding to the acquisition of experience, the achievement of the silver medal in the men’s double formed by Aarón Barrera and Iker González. The youngsters from Soria were overtaken in the final match by the fourth best national couple, Hugo Gállego and Jorge Royo from Huesca.

Finally, the performance of the seniors provided the two wins from Soria in Alfajarín. José Carlos Pérez took the victory in his individual category with victories in all his matches by two sets to nil confirming the predictions that placed him as the main favorite.

The senior male double modality had a double presence on the podium of two couples from Soria, on the one hand David Hernansanz from Soria and Sergio Latorre from Burgos against Santiago Martínez and José Carlos Pérez. The greater conjunction of the first was noted, winning the game that settled the gold with greater ease than expected.

The last medal, also silver, was obtained by Santiago Martínez together with the player of the Leganés Badminton Club, Beatriz Martín. Despite winning the first set of the final, they were unable to win the remaining two sets.
