The first Creole gunner to perform twice in the Home Run Derby was Miguel Cabrera, from Aragüe, who competed for the first time in 2006, at PNC Park in San Francisco, when he played with the Florida Marlins, and repeated in 2010, in representation of the Detroit Tigers, at Angel Stadium in the city of Anaheim. The first time he finished third and on his second run he took fourth position.

Zulian Carlos González participated in the 2012 and 2016 editions with the Colorado Rockies uniform. Both times he failed to get past the first round.

The other natives who have competed in the home run tournament are Bob Abreu (2005/Comerica Park, Detroit), Magglio Ordóñez (2007/AT&T-Park, San Francisco) and Salvador Pérez (2021, Coors Field)
