Premier League: That’s why Arsenal take Bernd Leno out of the squad – Soccer

Bernd Leno (30) switched from Bayer Leverkusen to Arsenal London in 2018 for 25 million euros.

But the time as a gunner should soon be over despite the contract until 2023. The international is about to move to Premier League promoted Fulham.

In the friendly at 1. FC Nürnberg (3:5) on Friday, Arsenal took the goalkeeper out of the squad.

BILD learned: Arsenal don’t want to risk an injury so that the transfer doesn’t fall through at the last minute.

A good sign for Leno: Arsenal and Fulham seem to agree on the fee. It was recently reported from England that the Londoners would demand around 12 million euros for their keeper. Leno has already agreed a contract with Fulham until 2025 (with an option until 2026).

Background: Leno has lost his place at Arsenal to Aaron Ramsdale. In order to recommend himself to national coach Hansi Flick for the World Cup, he wants to perform well on the pitch at Fulham so that he can be part of the squad in Qatar.

︎ During the test in Nuremberg, the second division team went into the break with a 2-0 lead – then came new signing Gabriel Jesus! It took the Brazilian just two minutes to score his first goal and he scored another in the 75th minute. In the end, Arsenal wins 5-3, also thanks to two own goals from Nuremberg.
