National League of Clubs: Double success of Valencia Club de Judo

On June 25, Villaviciosa de Odón, Madrid, held the third and last day of the National Judo League in which 7 teams from different clubs of the Valencian Community participated. In the men’s category, Valencia Judo Club and Ronin participated in the 1st division, while Judokan Valencia and Judo club Alicante they did it in the 2nd division. In the women’s category, three Valencian teams participated in the 1st division: Judokan Valencia; Judokan Alboria and Valencia Judo club.

The Valencia Women’s Judo Club managed to proclaim itself champion in the 1st division. In the previous season he got bronze after 5 consecutive seasons getting gold, this season he regains leadership by winning all the matches in the three days of the competition. On this third day, the team captained by Julia Figueroa and directed by Sugoi Uriarte was made up of Marina Castelló; Ayumi Leiba; Daria Bilodid; Isabel Puche; Ariela sanchez, Vlada and Yamilca Silvestre facing Montenegro from Madrid, which they won 5/0; the Akari de Canarias club with the result of 5/0 and the Judokan Alboraia, winning by 4/0.

The next commitment will be the European League of 1st division clubsin the previous season the Valencia girls got bronze.

The other medal obtained by the Valencian teams was the bronze achieved by the Valencia Club de Judo masculine in 1st division. After six consecutive editions winning gold in the men’s 1st division, in this edition they lost two matches on the second day and although on the third day they won all the matches: against Almeria by 5/0; Getafe 5/0 and Costa Tedise de Lanzarote 3/1 had to settle for bronze. The team of this third day, directed by Sugoi Uriate, formed it: Gaizka Porras; James Bernabéu; Alberto Varela; Aitor Goikoechea; Antoni Tornal and Jose Nova.
