Djordje Mihailovic is tired of being on the sidelines.

Away since May 28, the CF Montreal midfielder admits to being “mentally tired”. Physically, however, his condition is improving, he assured the TVA Sports program “Le magazine CF” on Tuesday. Watch the full interview in the video above.

“I’m mentally tired, said Mihailovic from the start. It was a difficult situation to live with not being able to participate in the American selection camp because of my injury (an ankle). I worked so hard to get such an opportunity… It was tough mentally.”

Mihailovic is much better today, on both counts.

“I am at the end of the cycle, my body feels good now. Doctors are pleased with the progress. Mentally, I can’t wait to get back on the pitch.”

The 23-year-old American still does not know the precise moment when he will finally be able to return to action. Certainly it is coming.

“I hope to resume training soon with my teammates. I’m currently training alone. I have no deadline. I will come back when my body is ready. I’m confident it’s coming soon.”

An unshakable confidence

Individually, Mihailovic also believes in him a lot. He also leads the Bleu-Blanc-Noir in goals with seven, in addition to four assists in 14 games.

“I have confidence in my abilities and it’s not my injury that will change that,” he promised.

While waiting to fully recover, Mihailovic is gloating over his team’s successes during his absence. CF Montreal (9-7-2) currently sits third in the Eastern Conference standings, having temporarily taken the lead last week.

Wilfried Nancy’s troupe will try on Saturday to put behind it the severe 4-0 defeat suffered by the LA GalaxyMonday. The match against Sporting Kansas City will be broadcast on TVA Sports starting at 7 p.m.
