Sevilla works to close the exits of Koundé, Óscar Rodríguez and Óliver Torres
The Frenchman is Xavi Hernández’s preferred central defender to reinforce the defense
Important days for the future by Jules Koundé. The central defender’s situation seems clear: he will leave Sevilla and the club’s intention is for it to be resolved quickly. In ABC de Sevilla they even talk about the possibility that his departure will take place in the coming days.
Koundé was about to leave last summer. Then Sevilla rejected Chelsea’s offer of 50 million. But the Frenchman’s intentions have not changed: he believes that he has finished his cycle at Sevilla and is looking for new goals. His purpose is to make the leap to one of the top clubs on the continent. Right now Barça is one of the best placed teams to sign the defender.
From the outset, Koundé is Xavi Hernández’s preferred central defender to reinforce Barça’s defence. And secondly the French prefer Barça’s option than Chelsea, the other interested club. Sevilla this summer would be willing to sell the footballer for a figure around 50 kilos, while Barça would reach 45 fixed.
Chelsea, meanwhile, is also attentive to other options such as De Ligt (Juventus) and Koulibaly (Naples). According to ABC de Sevilla, the Andalusian club faces next week as a key in the departures chapter. After the transfer of De Jong to PSV for around four million, the following could be Koundé, Óscar Rodríguez and Oliver Torres.
Koundé is a signing that is considered structural for Barça’s sports management. At just 23 years old, and after becoming one of the best defenders in LaLiga, the club are convinced that he would make a differential partner with Araujo. In addition, he is a versatile defender, capable of playing in the center of defense or on the side.
