Children’s book author with an urge to move: Margit Auer. – Sports

SZ: Sport is…

Margit Auer: …the perfect balance for desk people.

Your current fitness level?

Totally okay. Thanks to swimming laps, regular jogging sessions and Wednesday sports at Anne’s.

Rim upswing or stopover?

Does anyone really do a rim upswing? Why then?

Physical education class was for you?

Unless you had to twirl those weird plastic ribbons, it was mostly fun.

Your personal record?

Finisher at the last half marathon (next to last place in my age group).

Stadium visitor or TV athlete?

No way. I just walk out the door and move.

Bavaria or sixty?

Bayern, the women’s team. The men wear such funny red jackets, but they also have what it takes.

Your eternal sports idol?

Rosi Mittermaier.

A formative experience?

Mountain tour in continuous rain.

In which discipline would you be an Olympic champion?

Arrive anyway.

Which athlete would you like to swap jerseys with?

With Hilde Gerg when she was a child. Didn’t she ski down the hill to school? (That’s right, down from the Tölzer ski hut on Brauneck, ed.).

Under the heading “Formality” the SZ asks people about their affinity for sport every week. Artists, politicians, captains of industry – just no athletes. It would be boring.
