The Bonn Capitals, Heidenheim Heideköpfe and Guggenberger Legionnaires Regensburg have reached the semi-finals in the first baseball league. Meanwhile, the Untouchables Paderborn lead 2-1 against the Munich-Haar Disciples in the fourth quarterfinals.

Heidenheim and Regensburg already made the semi-finals perfect on Saturday. The Heidekopfs scored five runs in the first inning en route to a 7-2 win over the Hamburg Stealers to easily win the best-of-5 series 3-0. The Guggenberger Legionnaires turned a 2-0 deficit against the Dohren Wild Farmers into a 5-3 win and also won the series 3-0.

Nordmeister Bonn had to settle for a 1-1 draw in their quarterfinals against Mainz Athletics a week ago. In Mainz they made it 3-1 to make it into the semi-finals. They won game three 4-0 on Saturday and game four on Sunday 12-6. The Athletics briefly dreamed of a decisive fifth game in game four, but then had to admit defeat.

The fourth quarter-final between the Untouchables and the Disciples started a week late with three games due to Covid19. On Saturday, Paderborn and Munich-Haar shared the victories 6:9 and 4:2. On Sunday, the U’s prevailed 6-4 and are 2-1 ahead in the best-of-5 series. The series will end in Paderborn next weekend. In the semifinals, the winner then meets the Guggenberger Legionnaires.

The second semi-final is also the repeat of the final series of the last five years between the Bonn Capitals and Heidenheim Heideköpfen. The first two games of the best-of-5 series will take place in Bonn next weekend.

The softball federal league is on pause due to the women’s softball European championship that is currently taking place in Sant Boi/Spain. After the end of the European Championship, the Cologne Cardinals will meet the Neunkirchen Nightmares and the Tübingen Hawks will meet the Stuttgart Reds on Sunday.
