A first successful football tournament for the local Mission of Bernay and Pont-Audemer

The Mission locale Ouest-Eure organized Friday, July 8, 2022 its first football tournament open to all structures welcoming young people. Educators like players do not hide their desire to repeat the event.

On this sunny Friday afternoon, nearly 140 young people from all over Normandy came to the Denis-Bailly stadium in Bernay to take part in the football tournament organized by the Mission locale Ouest-Eure, which brings together the entities of Bernay and Pont- Audemer. Large crowds, extravagant celebrations and a competitive atmosphere, it’s all there, including the injured.

Meet other young people

Walking through pitch after pitch, there’s no doubt that young people are calling for these kinds of events: “It’s to be done again, it creates a bond, we have fun”, confides Olivia, player of the Bernay Local Mission team. The favorite team, from the local Mission of Barentin, although sadly eliminated by Bernay in the quarter-finals, remains positive about this day: “It’s the first time we’ve met new people, we need more initiatives like this. And then it’s a very different activity from those we usually do, it feels good, “ testifies Lucas, player of the Barentin-Yvetot team.

A gym membership to be won

If all the participants are more than satisfied with the initiative as well as the course of the tournament, it should be noted that this formula almost did not see the light of day:

“We wanted to organize a small tournament, like last year, and then a month and a half ago we decided to send invitations to all the local missions in Normandy. We received a large number of positive responses, and then word of mouth also meant that other structures, such as the MFR or the MJC de Bernay, came to take part in the celebration,”

rejoices Morgane Chauvin, organizer of the tournament and adviser to the local Mission of Bernay. The winners won a one-year subscription to the Espace Bien Etre gym in Bernay.
