The 103rd National Sports Festival this year will be held from October 7 to 13 at 71 stadiums, including Ulsan Sports Complex. The National Sports Festival will be held normally for the first time in three years since the COVID-19 crisis, and will be held again in Ulsan for the first time in 17 years since 2005.

The city of Ulsan announced on the 23rd that it would hold a ‘mini sports competition with citizens in advance’ to promote the sports event and induce citizen participation before the opening of the national sports festival at 11 am on the 26th at the Taehwagang National Garden Wangbeodeul yard.

Any citizen can participate in the mini sports competition. Experience sports include archery, shooting, baseball, soccer, basketball, taekwondo, boxing, gymnastics, etc. There are three sports for the disabled.

Ulsan City will give you a 5,000 won ticket to the flea market operated by the mini-sports event when you experience at least 5 out of 11 sports and get a stamp of certification. At the flea market, you can purchase products made by small business owners in Ulsan, or experience various experiences such as calligraphy and ribbon making.

Additional events such as tattoo experience, a balloon slide experience, magic and bubble performances, etc. will be prepared for the success of the National Sports Festival. At the closing ceremony, a quiz contest related to the national (disabled) sports festival is held, and prizes are provided through a lucky draw lottery.

In the recruitment of volunteers for this year’s national sports event, which was recently closed by the Ulsan City National Sports Festival, 4,600 people applied, far exceeding the target (4,000 people), reflecting the public’s great interest. Jang Young-soo, head of Ulsan National Sports Festival, said, “We will prepare and actively promote various events so that this year’s National Sports Festival can be enjoyed not only by athletes, but also by Ulsan citizens and tourists.”

Ulsan City expects about 200,000 people, including athletes and spectators, to visit Ulsan during the Games.
