RB Leipzig: Nkunku extension on the home stretch – Bundesliga

It is the most important person on the table of RB boss Oliver Mintzlaff (46)! Super striker Christopher Nkunku (24) is scheduled to stay in Leipzig this summer. And extend his contract, which runs until 2024. It looks like this is going to work…

According to BILD information, the deal is on the home stretch. Means: Nkunku would remain despite the great interest of the top European clubs in the Bundesliga and Leipzig. That would be a great achievement for Mintzlaff and the club.

Nkunku before the inscription!

Mintzlaff had repeatedly emphasized that he did not want to give up the French. As SPORT BILD reported, the RB boss last met Nkunku consultant Pini Zahavi (78) in London. And there renewed his clear no to a possible departure of the striker. Apparently with success.

What Mintzlaff played into the cards: The other top clubs didn’t really want to get serious about their courtship for Nkunku this year. Interested parties such as Manchester United, Chelsea or PSG would have had to pay at least 80 million euros. The clear will to do so was missing.

Almost certain now that Nkunku will extend his contract in Leipzig. His salary is to be increased from the current 3 million to at least 7 million euros, and the new contract will then run until 2025.

An exit clause is anchored in it, which states that he can leave in the summer of 2023 for a performance-related EUR 60 to 65 million.

If everything goes well, the Leipzig fans will still have enough time to celebrate their superstar…
