Basketball has an appointment in Motril from June 24 to 29 with the second edition of the Curro Segura Training Camp, where young people between the ages of 8 and 18 will have the opportunity to experience both individual and team training days and an important I work on the values ​​of sport.

Luisa García Chamorro, mayor of Motril, has pointed out that it is “a luxury to be here today presenting this new edition of the training camp and that there are hardly any places left, which highlights the category of this sporting event”. He thanked all the staff of the Costa Motril Basketball Club for their participation, as well as the Sports Area and the centers that collaborate by giving space on their courts, but “especially the sponsors because we are firm supporters of this collaboration between public and private entities that They give the possibility of having experiences like this and that young people can live this authentic basketball festival at the hands of one of the greats like Curro Segura, present today from Athens”.

Daniel Ortega, Councilor for Sports, has reported that once the success of the first edition was experienced “we already knew that it was not going to stay in just one and the proof is that today the places are almost covered, in an appointment that Last year the bar was set very high and we hope it will be at least the same”. The mayor has indicated that the campus will be developed on the slopes of the sports pavilion, those of the IES Giner de los Ríos and the Virgen de la Cabeza school and has expressed his satisfaction “because more than 150 young people can access this education that the values ​​of sport contribute to all people”.

Curro Segura, a basketball coach with an exceptional career and who precisely had his beginnings at Santa Adela in the golden age of basketball in Motril, has emphasized the importance of being able to celebrate this second edition, which has confirmed that it was one of the the objectives when the first one was organized. The coach, who has attended online from Athens, has highlighted “being able to count on the support of the Motril City Council and the Sports Area, in addition to the sponsors, Interocio and Volvo Digasa, to make it possible for these young people to work not only the sports field but to highlight the values ​​of teamwork, effort, commitment and also fun”.

From the Costa Motril Basketball Club, its president, Jesús Bustos, has stressed the pride of having the figure of Curro Segura and knowing that once again this campus is going to be “a resounding success”. Bustos added that the club’s intention when promoting this type of event is always to “promote and promote basketball and sports in general because they are not only going to practice basketball but a complete program where they are going to learn, enjoy, and where they will have moments of coexistence and participation”.

Finally, Eugenio Llera, director of the campus, has shown his pride that being able to celebrate this event with the help of Curro Segura, who knows perfectly well the best years of Motrileño basketball and who is currently the coach of AEK Athens, has become a reality. He has been in up to five ACB teams, participated in numerous league promotions and has an international track record being present in the technical staff of Euroleague teams, being one of the most important coaches on the current basketball scene.
