Oscar Slater Stevenson—Passed away after a brief illness at Greater Niagara General Hospital on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 in his 96th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Elizabeth (nee McLeod) (2016). Dearly loved father of Ann Jones (Chuck) and Alan. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer (Darryl), Ashley (Justin), Scott (Lisa), Lori (Tim) and Mike (Vicci). Loving Great-Grandfather to James, Leah, Everett, Nolan, Carter and Tyler. Dear brother-in-law to Annie (Bob) Leal, Helen McLeod, Shirley McLeod and Archie Thomson. Predeceased by brothers Jack Scott, George, Robert and Emmerson. Hawk will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Oscar began his sailing career at 15 and served with Upper Lakes Shipping and Port Weller Dry Docks for over 45 years. He was a lifetime member of the Grantham Optimist Club and an Elder Emeritus at Knox Presbyterian Church. Dad was a true family man and was always available to lend a hand with any project. He was an avid hockey and baseball fan. Throughout his lifetime he enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips as well as gardening. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday June 14, 2022 at Fawcett Funeral Home – Collingwood Chapel with visitation one hour prior. Interment at First Presbyterian Cemetery. If desired donations in Oscar’s memory may be made to your local Hospice.
