While Paris Saint-Germain and Nice continue to negotiate, Christophe Galtier has found a contractual agreement with the capital club. The Niois coach is getting a little closer to PSG!
Galtier has reached an agreement with PSG
There were already not many left, but doubt is no longer allowed: everything suggests that Christophe Galtier will indeed be the next coach of Paris Saint-Germain. Because the file has made significant progress in the last few hours!
A 2-year contract, plus an optional year
This Wednesday evening, L’Equipe announces that the Nice coach has reached an agreement with the capital club on a two-year contract, plus an optional year. The sports daily does not give figures but assures that the French technician will receive a salary lower than that of Mauricio Pochettino (1.1 M€ gross monthly).
To sit on the Parisian bench, Galtier must now wait for PSG and Nice to agree on his severance pay. The positions of the two clubs have come very close in recent days and the operation should be completed for an amount of around 10 million euros. Proof of the progress of the file, the Gym has already agreed with its ex-coach Lucien Favre to bring him back to the Cte d’Azur (read here).
PSG still negotiating with Pochettino
As it stands, an agreement between PSG and Nice is not enough. Indeed, Galtier must also wait for the Parisian management to find a financial agreement with Pochettino and his staff. However, the discussions drag on. But everything should accelerate over the next few days and Paris should pay nearly €15 million, the amount of the remaining salaries of the Argentinian and his staff until the end of his lease in June 2023. In total, Paris will therefore spend around €25m to change coaches this summer.
