He also called on U.S. lawmakers to take a tougher stance on authoritarian regimes around the world.

On June 8 (Wednesday), Kantor delivered a speech on human rights in China to the House Republican Study Committee at the invitation of Congressman Jim Banks, chairman of the House Republican Study Committee. He said: “I specifically mentioned to them (members of Congress) that there are a lot of human rights violations going on around the world. People see America as a leader in freedom, democracy and human rights. So people in the room today give I have a lot of hope that they are motivated to fight for justice.”

“We have to hold these dictatorships accountable,” Kanter said. “I think we need to put more pressure on dictatorships around the world. And if you look at the world, the worst is China.”

Late last month, new classified Xinjiang documents were exposed, further revealing the Chinese government’s massive human rights abuses against Uyghurs. The Chinese foreign ministry denied the documents.

Kanter said: “No one believes the Chinese government or any official anymore. They are humiliating themselves to the world. My only message to them is: stop talking nonsense! The world knows that genocide is happening. . Please close the concentration camps and stop the forced labor…”

He also reminded the congressmen present that they should be more vigilant about the infiltration of the CCP at all levels of American society. “I told them that for China and other countries, they can’t invade America from the outside. They’re going to try to do it from the inside,” Kanter said. “You look at Wall Street, Big Tech, academia, Hollywood and It is unacceptable that a sports world like the NBA is almost entirely controlled by the CCP.”

In an interview with the media, Banks praised Kanter’s courage to speak out for human rights around the world. “He (Kante) was a hero who had the courage to speak up for these human rights atrocities. He risked his (basketball) career and his life to do these things,” he said. “Kante was an NBA player, and now he’s in the His NBA career was destroyed, but he didn’t hold back.”

Kanter told VOA that he will visit Taiwan in November and stay there for six days. During this period, he will attend the Oslo Freedom Forum event in Taipei on November 3. “I hope to meet President Tsai Ing-wen and hold a big basketball camp for the kids,” he said.

Kanter, 30, of Turkish descent who was born in Switzerland and grew up in Turkey, naturalized as a U.S. citizen last year and changed his surname to Freedom. In February of this year, he was transferred from the Boston Celtics to the Houston Rockets, but was released by the Houston Rockets because of his repeated remarks criticizing the Chinese Communist Party. He is currently a free agent.
