MLB: unique shoes for famous players?

New York Yankees star Aaron Judge wants major league baseball stars to show off their uniqueness by wearing custom shoes.

This is what he said during his appearance on Joe La Puma’s web show “Sneaker Shopping”.

“It’s something I’ve been trying to tell people for a really long time,” Judge said. We have Mookie [Betts] in Los Angeles, [Fernando] Tatis son in San Diego, [Ronald] Acuna son in Atlanta and several guys with the Yankees. It’s time to get out our own shoes.”

The 2022 so far leader in home runs (25) in the major leagues thinks this could be a time to pique the interest of new fans.

“I think we would get the attention of young people if shoe companies make their cleats look like shoes you wear off the field.”

Currently in Major League Baseball, only three players wear custom shoes. They are Mike Trout (Los Angeles Angels), Bryce Harper (Philadelphia Phillies) and Francisco Lindor (New York Mets). Ken Griffey Jr. was the first player in tour history to have custom cleats when Nike released the Air Griffey Max 1 in 1996.
