How he joined Ram
“We were very close to not playing together. Ram was number 1 on my list to play and, in fact, he had someone he wanted to play with before me, Marcel Granollers. They had just won a big tournament, but his partner was playing singles and didn’t want to commit for four years, so Rajeev agreed to play with me. That was the big factor in it all. He so far he’s been an amazing teammate.”
The pressure of being number 1
“Now I feel more comfortable, but when I found out that we were going to reach number 1, everything seemed very strange to me. It was a little uncomfortable because I almost felt that I did not deserve it. I did not feel that I was at the level. I think that part of my personality is like that. I’m never satisfied, I always look forward to the next tournament.”
