Here’s what LSU baseball is paying new pitching coach Wes Johnson, former coach of the Minnesota Twins

LSU-Baseball Pitching-Coach Wes Johnsonwho was hired Monday, signed a three-year term worth $1.14 million.

LSU released Johnson’s contract information to The Advertiser Monday following a public filing request. The term sheet has an annual base salary of $380,000 and runs through June 30, 2025. He will also receive a vehicle allowance of $800 per month and a $25,000 relocation incentive.

Johnson left his post as Pitching-Coach der Minnesota Twins Come to Baton Rouge. The Athletic reported Monday that Johnson makes $400,000 a year from the organization.

College documents obtained by The Advertiser show that LSU’s last pitching coach, Jason Kelly, signed a three-year, $900,000 term sheet. Kelly left LSU after being hired as Washington’s new coach.

Johnson was in the middle of his fourth season with the Twins before leaving for LSU. Minnesota has the 11th-best ERA in MLB and is first in the American League Central.

“We hired what I believe to be the best pitching coach in the country at every level,” LSU coach Jay Johnson said in a school statement Monday. “The success he’s had at baseball’s highest level is a testament to Wes’ ability to communicate, teach, develop and motivate.”

Before joining MLB, Johnson was a two-season pitching coach at Arkansas and a year at Mississippi State.
