Gustavo Fernández will seek his third crown at Roland Garros

The Cordovan Gustavo FernandezNo. 3 in the world in the ITF ranking, surpassed the British Alfie Hewett, leader of the adapted tennis circuit, 6-1 twice in one hour of play. In the definition he will look for his third crown of Roland Garrosthe sixth at the Grand Slam level if we count the celebrations in the Australian Open 2017/2019 and Wimbledon 2019, contest in which he played his last grand final.

The losing streak against the Norfolk tennis player lasted exactly one year. During last season, competing in the French Open, Hewett beat “Lobito” and began a string of wins that spanned eight chapters, including definitions at the French Riviera Open, the Orlando Masters, the World Cup of Rotterdam and the Cajun Classic.

It took but the nightmare came to an end. Before beginning his adventures at Roland Garros, Fernández interrupted the string of defeats with a win over Hewett in the semifinals of the Barcelona Open, where he ended up consecrating himself against the Japanese legend, Shingo Kunieda, with whom he will face in the definition of the second Grand Cycle slam.
