Golf: A spectator stunned by a ball

Posted

A drive from Peter Uihlein ended up directly in the head of a spectator. Decidedly, the new LIV circuit has not finished talking about him.

Since Thursday, professional golf has entered another dimension. Indeed, the new and much maligned LIV circuit presented the first event in its history at the Centurion Club in London.

It was the South African Charl Schwartzel who won the inaugural tournament of this dissident golf league on Saturday, supported by Saudi Arabia, which managed to attract a number of professionals to it despite threats of sanctions from the US PGA.

Peter Uihlein’s ball ended up directly in the head of a spectator, who collapsed on the ground.

The miss of the weekend

Beyond the controversy due to the rewards reserved for the players, the blow of the weekend will remain that of Peter Uihlein. The American did not shine with his precision. On the contrary…

His ball deflected completely and ended its course on the head of an unfortunate spectator. He saw nothing coming and found himself on the ground in a second, totally knocked out.

The unfortunate golf lover was able to get up a few moments later. He will still have a nice bump and a little story to tell when he returns to the clubhouse.

His friends will certainly remind him of the No. 1 rule of anyone on the course: never take your eyes off the ball, even when the tournament is reserved for professionals.
