Golden State Warriors equalize in NBA Finals

Dhe Golden State Warriors equalized against the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals. Three days after the 108:120 at the start, the team around the stars Steph Curry and Klay Thompson scored a sovereign 107:88 (52:50) on Sunday evening (local time). The Warriors pulled away again in the third quarter, but this time the guests around German basketball player Daniel Theis couldn’t find a way back into the game. In the meantime, the Warriors were even ahead by 29 points.

“Third quarter, we have to turn that off. We can’t hope, like in the first game, that we go minus 15 and then come back in a game like that,” Theis told the German Press Agency (dpa). The game was even at half-time and the Celtics were only two points behind.

The best pitcher of the game was Steph Curry. After a comparatively modest 15 points and only two successful three-pointers in the first half, he led his team in the third quarter and recorded a total of 29 points. In the final quarter he was already allowed to rest. Jayson Tatum was the most successful with the Celtics, scoring 28 points. Theis played just over 14 minutes and had five rebounds, one assist and one block in that time.

The Warriors are hoping for the seventh title in their history and the first since 2018. If the Celtics win their first title since 2008, they would again be the sole record champions in the world’s best basketball league with 18 wins ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Game three of the series will take place early Thursday morning (3:00 a.m. EDT) in Boston. “We’ve come back all the way through the playoffs after defeats, that’s the most important thing for us now: to play our basketball and, above all, not to play so badly,” said Theis.
