Fill the streets with purple, seek citizen participation and put the finishing touch to the events celebrating the club’s 75th anniversary. These are some of the objectives that Club Deportivo Guadalajara has set for itself with the call for a popular race that was born with a clear intention of continuity and that in this first edition will take place in the vicinity of Pedro Escartín scheduled for September 25.
There are more than three months left for its celebration, but registration is already open from today. And it is that the club hopes to bring together more than 1,500 participants in the athletic event.
This Thursday the race was presented at the house of one of the purple sponsors, the Tasca del Chuletón, in an act that was attended by the club’s staff (Néstor Ruiz, Hernán García, Carlos Ávila…) and the councilor of Sports, Evaristo Olcina.
“When we took on this challenge, we decided that this would not be a football club, but a sports institution and should have other disciplines, such as women’s football, inclusive sport or judo. Now we are committed to running”, highlighted Hernán García, executive director of the club. The proposal comes thanks to the experience provided by two club professionals, Marcelo Battaglia and Nicolas Battaglia, in top-level races such as the San Silvestre and the Buenos Aires Marathon and in it, according to García, “we are going to try to embrace all those who want to participate.”
The race will have several distances, always playing with the figures of 7 and 5 that make up the 75th anniversary. In this way, tests of 75 and 750 meters have been established for the smallest and 3.75 and 7.5 kilometers for the most daring. For the first two distances, registration will be free, while for the rest it will be 10 euros, an amount that will be reimbursed later in a discount for the Dépor season ticket or on the purchase of products in the Deportivo store.
The surprises will continue on September 25, since all the participants will have their commemorative medal and a whole party with inflatables and music will be installed in the stadium.
