CEIP Abdera wins the IV Recycling League of Poniente Almeria

The award has been for the CEIP Abdera second grade class Because there has to be a winner. But really we all win with initiatives like the Recycling League of Poniente Almeria. A ‘competition’ through which se makes children between 7 and 8 years old aware of the importance of recycling at the same time that a good amount of light containers are taken to the appropriate container.

In fact, so much so that between the 22 participating centers a total of more than 18,000 kilos have been collected of this type of waste throughout the months in which this initiative has been developed.

Congratulation
The mayor of Adra, Manuel Cortes, together with the Councilors for Education and the Presidency, Pedro Peña and José Crespo, has given the CEIP Abdera the winning prize to the Second Primary class on a visit to this school together with those responsible for the Poniente Almeriense Solid Waste Consortium, organizers of this contest, and in which he took the opportunity to congratulate them.

In addition, he stressed that “from the City Council we consider it vital to sensitize and make the little ones aware of the importance of recycling and respect and care for the environment”, pointing out that “we must all be aware that the maintenance of our planet depends on our habits and small gestures.

Undoubtedly, environmental and civic education is the main objective of this initiative promoted by the Poniente Solid Waste Consortium and aimed at children between 7 and 8 years of age in the member municipalities: Adra, Balanegra, Berja, Dalías, La Mojonera and Vícar.

Day in Castala
CEIP Abdera, cAs a prize for the center that has recycled the most kilos, it has obtained an excursion to the Peri-urban Park of Castala with three hours of activities and games such as ‘Orientation with a treasure hunt’, ‘Adventurous route’, ‘Archery’, ‘Zip line’ and ‘Balance tape’ and games such as ‘Three in a row’, ‘Las Torres’, balloon games and ‘Capture the flag’. Fun in nature as a reward for recycling.
