Six months after his surprise return to Barcelona, Dani Alves has once again left the club. “I want to thank everyone who gave me the chance to wear this fantastic shirt again,” said the 39-year-old Brazilian defender.
Dani Alves was Barcelona’s spectacular right wing for many years, but his successful passage through Catalonia came to an end in 2016 with his move to Juventus.
Five years later, at the age of 39, Alves got one last chance to wear the Barcelona shirt. His ex-team mate Xavi saw in the Brazilian a (cheap) solution to turn the tide at the then swamping Barça.
But now that Alves’ 6-month contract expires, he has to say goodbye again: “I want to thank everyone who gave me the opportunity to come back to this club and wear this fantastic shirt again.”
“I hope they will not miss my madness and my daily cheerfulness. I hope from the bottom of my heart that those who are left behind can change the history of this club.”
