Alexandra Tondeur superb 2nd in the Ironman of Nice

There is no doubt that she must have particularly relished this podium! After weeks, even months of struggle, Alexandra Tondeur finished second in the prestigious Ironman of Nice, this Sunday, on the Promenade des Anglais. The Brabançonne was only beaten by the German Thoes, victorious in 9h18.48.

Coming out of the water in sixth position, 2’32 behind the Frenchwoman Genêt, but in a group of five triathletes, Alex quickly rose to third place after 27 km on the bike. Halfway through, at km 86, she was still in third place, 1’51 behind the German Thoes.

But the second part was more difficult for our compatriot, victim of a mechanical problem. And it was in fourth position that she pointed in T2 before starting the marathon. Halfway through, she was already up to third place, then to second following the abandonment of the Frenchwoman Genêt in the run.

A podium in Nice: hats off!
