With 47 points, Ja Morant allows Memphis to pick up against Golden State in the NBA play-offs

Exceptional. Heroic. Words fail to describe Ja Morant’s new performance. The Grizzlies point guard was the author of a sensational game last night against the Warriors (47 points, 8 assists, 8 rebounds, 3 steals.) Morant achieved his best performance in the play-offs (record 47 points he had already achieved in Game 2 against the Jazz last year, defeat 141-129) to lead his team to victory (106-101).

As in the first game, the two franchises had to fight until the last minute to decide. A physical and intense duel which notably led to the exclusion of Dillon Brooks after injuring Gary Payton II in the left elbow. Led by two possessions four minutes from time (95-91), the Grizzlies let Ja Morant put on the hero costume to save Memphis and leave home with a victory. Golden State never managed to stop the freshly rewarded MIP.

Ja Morant scored his team’s last 15 points. He achieved a 5/7 in shooting while ensuring free throws (12/13 over the whole match).

Lacking success in shooting (39.6% including 31.1% at three-pointers), the Warriors made too many blunders (18 stray bullets) to hope to win. Stephen Curry (27 points, 8 assists, 9 rebounds) tried to respond to the phenomenon, but the GS icon was alone. Klay Thompson, unable to defend on Ja Morant, also failed to distinguish himself on the other side of the floor (12 points at 5/19 shooting). The next match will take place in San Francisco this Sunday, at 2:30 a.m. (French time).
